Look What We Found!

My love for thrift stores and “the hunt” for bargains on home goods came from my mom (cue the song “I Get It From My Mama”). She is often “popping in” to thrift stores, garage sales, and antique shops to see what treasures she might find.

On a trip to a local church-run thrift store, Mama found this amazing couch. It’ s about eight feet long and the wood detail needs to be painted (I’m thinking white), but I actually love the fabric color and pattern! It’s a pale blue, almost mint-y color with a subtle diamond pattern. The shape is so neat…I’m obsessed!

Couch Purchased from Thrift Store

I’m going to do some intense research to determine what style this couch is; I’m thinking it’s very Victorian since the shape and wood detailing is reminiscent of that time period.

It would be great to put in a large living room atop layered rugs. The best part is it was only $165.00! I’m sure it would cost a lot more had it been at an estate sale or antiques shop.

Do y’all have any ideas for how I should paint it and/or reupholster it? I’d love suggestions!

G is for Garages

This may sound really strange, but I love garages, specifically garage doors. Recently, garage doors have become more elaborate and decorative. They no longer serve as just a door on which to hit the ole tennis ball against. There are actually companies that specialize in creating customized garage doors, but these doors cost quite a pretty penny! (Think $5,000 and up!)

I really love the polished wood look of some of these garage doors. If you can afford it, I see no reason why your garage door shouldn’t be as aesthetically pleasing as the rest of your home!
