Four Things Friday

Happy Friday, everyone! This has seemed like an incredibly long week, so I’m super pumped about the weekend. My best friends and I are hosting a bridal shower for our good friend, Caroline. It’ll be outside on a patio, and I can’t wait to share photos and details with you next week! It’s been a long row planning it, but I think it’s going to turn out superbly.

What are your big plans for the weekend? Make sure to check out these things I’m loving from around the Web!

1. How genius are these thrift store plate mirrors? They look like they’d be so easy to do!

2. This is such an easy way to decorate the walls in your kitchen or dining room.

3. I want to frame a series of these Women’s Wear Daily sketches by famous designers. They’d be beautiful in a bedroom or bathroom.

4. I’m not one for camping, but I think this would be a fun place to spend the weekend. It’s glamorous and comfortable.

Four Things Friday

I know I said I was going to take a break from blogging this week, but I couldn’t help myself: I had to share these great finds from around the Web with y’all!

Have  a great weekend!

1. I am dying to paint a wall in a gingham pattern! This tutorial looks pretty simple!

2. I love how this guest room looks like a train car! So fun!

3. These clever posters are perfect for a kitchen. So humorous!

4. I want to make these votives wrapped in cornhusks. They are so beautiful!

W is for Wish List

My wish list for my future home is pretty extensive, but I thought I would share with you the top three items I’m dying to have in my home. What do you want in your dream home?

1. An apron front sink: These sinks are amazing! I love the way they look in a kitchen. I love doing the dishes (weird, I know), so I think having a sink like this would make doing the dishes especially interesting!

2. Trellis wallpaper: Wallpaper is a huge commitment, so it’s very important that you like the print and color of the wallpaper you choose. I think this trellis print would never get old! And the grey and white colors are calming and classic.

3. Bookshelves: I love love love bookshelves! I would love to have them in my bedroom or family room to display my favorite books, trinkets from travels, and beloved photos. They’re so eye-catching!

B is for Backsplash

Okay, readers, honest question: Do you know what the tile, slate, or wall underneath your kitchen cabinets is called? If you don’t, it’s okay! I didn’t know it was known as “backsplash” until a few years ago.

Backsplash can add so much personality to a kitchen. I cannot cook to save my life (I  once blew up a Lean Cuisine in my microwave in college…who knew that was even possible?), but I cannot wait to pick out a fun backsplash for my kitchen space. I’ve documented my love of subway tiles, but I think a mirrored backsplash would be a great way to bring light into a small kitchen area.

It’s important to pick a material that not only looks great and blends with the rest of your kitchen design, but is also easy to clean (like if spaghetti sauce explodes…that’s also happened to me). I found great backsplash ideas from the experts at HGTV…check them out here!

X is for X-table Base

Photo from Casa-Diseno-Blog

It was quite hard finding something design-related that correlates with ‘X.’ Never fear, though, because I remembered my love of X-table bases. You may often overlook the base of tables (because isn’t it more important what’s on top of the table like food or presents, than what makes the base of the table?), but X-table bases are so interesting! They look like a star at the bottom and add a unique element to what would otherwise be a regular table base.

I think the design of an X-table base coupled with a funky color (my love for all things yellow has been well-documented) would make for quite the conversation piece! This type of table would be great in a small breakfast nook or eat-in kitchen. I found this X-table base online, but I think it would be easier and cheaper to construct one yourself. Do you know of any online tutorials that would provide instructions on how to make one of these? Let me know!
