Four Things Friday

Enjoy the weekend, y’all! Revel in this wonderful fall weather…carve a pumpkin outside, make a wreath to hang on your front door, or go for a walk around the block with your family. I hope you’ll enjoy these things I’m currently loving…

1. What an awesome way to use a small attic space! If I had enough clothes and enough room, I would definitely make an attic into my own personal dressing room. Loving these gilded ceilings and the sumptuous carpet.

2. I hate to admit this, but I love the Lifetime Network. A friend of mine told me about the show, Picker Sisters, and I’ve become obsessed (like stay up until 4 in the morning watching it obsessed). These girls are so creative…I know you’ll fall in love with the show like I have!

3. My love for any and all things nautical has been declared, so I’m dying to get my hands on some coral to display on my coffee table tray. Isn’t it so simple yet so pretty?

4. Once I cut out all of the pages that I’ve dog-eared in magazines over the years, my inspiration board will hopefully look like this.

V is for Vignettes

I feel like I am always telling y’all about vignettes…I just love them! Just in case you’re not entirely clear what a vignette is despite my continuous rambling about them, here’s the definition from dictionary.com: A vignette is “any small pleasing picture or view.” That’s definitely how I feel about vignettes!

I think vignettes can capture an individual’s personality simply by displaying small treasures or trinkets that have a common theme. For example, I love vintage perfume bottles, so I have a collection of them on my dressing table. I don’t use them, but their unique shapes and beautiful colors remind me of an Old Hollywood boudoir.

If you love the ocean, you could display a small collection of driftwood, seashells, and coral on your bookshelf, armoire, or entryway table. Love books about architecture? Stack them in small, low piles on a table in your foyer. The key to making sure a vignette looks classic as opposed to clutter is making sure that all of your pieces have something in common (i.e. they look similar to each other or have the same theme). The vignettes are simple yet make a beautiful statement.
