I’m sure all of you have heard of the titillating erotic trilogy, 50 Shades of Grey. I won’t get into the plot line (this isn’t Playboy), but it has definitely captured the attention of millions of women around the world. The main character, Christian Grey, is an aloof yet sexually alluring billionaire who woos a young college student. The author describes his appearance (chiseled abs, patrician features…essentially, perfection), his clothing (tailored, crisp shirts), and his lavish penthouse apartment.

When I read books, I often like to think of what the characters’ surroundings would look like. Grey’s apartment is described as luxurious with the most up-to-date technology and world class art. I think his home would be mostly modern with clean lines. I envision Sarrinen tables, Eames chairs, and lots of abstract art work. The color scheme would be predominantly white, black, and grey with sleek furniture. The home would have no personal touches such as photographs or mementos from travels. Below are some of the images that I think would inspire Mr. Grey when he (or his minions) was decorating his penthouse.
